and romney, neither a stellar debater. obama didn't shine in the democratic primary debates, biden won them. that's why obama picked biden. candidate obama had a tendency to ramble in the debates, got better during mccain one on ones. while romney did well in this season's gop debates, had rough performances, bet you $10,000 he did. romney performances, the unspoken body language that the camera captured, they were brutal against ted kennedy. ivy league will enjoy biden versus ryan more. trust me. >>> turning back to the brand new battleground polls. there's a different pattern emerging, president obama is ahead in new hampshire, tighter in nevada and north carolina. joining me, director of the marist poll. good to see you in person. >> welcome to the home of the new york yankees. >> you're going to blow the playoff run. >> i am worried. >> we want the beltway series in washington. we have been looking at this as sort of the generic, the general all nine states. what is your take away? >> i think what you're seeing is a very big difference when obama is 45, 46 as months ago when everything

biden and chris dodd did really well and the president obviously got the democratic nomination. he is a very solid debater. i moderate rated four republican presidential debates with mitt romney and i have the same feeling about him. very solid. knows his stuff. these will be really good debates. they both know their stuff and i am looking forward to it and i am not lowering or raising anybody's expectations. i think the challenge will be on both to get the job done 90 minutes. there are strict rules as you know next wednesday night, how long they can speak and rebuttle and what the moderators can do if you will and so it will be good. it will be good television. i think the undecided voters ll get a better chance. >> i you what. i got to make sure viewers know that it is not just mitt romney's camp th beenoi this, that president obama's camp has lowered skpp stations as well saying that, look, mitt romney's had the primary season. he is seasoned. he has been practicing. they're both doing it. let me switch gears quickly. you have to comment on the todd akisue. the deadline passed

for that on wednesday. jen, good to see you. we've heard the obama-biden perspective. what is does the romney-ryan team think? >> we have a member of their campaign team who will way in as well. there's a health company that can help you stay that way. what's healthier than that? >>> we just spoke with the top obama campaign aide. republican presidential mitt romney, he had a phone conversation with the prim minister, happened just moments ago. and romney met with netanyahu as recently as july during his trip to israel. the two men are friends. joining us, matt slap, former white house political director in the george w. bush administration. good to see you. respond, first, to the criticism and the accusations here that this is a political stunt here. you have the president who is already talking to yet raw hnet why is romney on the phone with netanyahu? >> i think it is totally appropriate for netanyahu to talk to the opposition government leader here in this country this is something that is standard protocol. quite frankly i think mr. netanyahu knows that his relationship with america is incredibly
